Clarithromycin HEC (a generic to the pharmaceutical product Klacid) has today been launched for sale on the Swedish market, consistent with previously communicated goals. Clarithromycin in an antibiotic and belongs to a group of medicines called macrolides. It is used in treatment of bacterial infections, including e.g. airway infections, tonsillitis, sinusitis and skin- and soft tissue infections. The total yearly turnover for the original product in Sweden is approximately SEK 2.2 million. Currently there is no Clarithromycin generic on the market in Sweden, but one generic competitor is approved for sale in addition to Clarithromycin HEC. Clarithromycin is the first product EQL Pharma is launching as a part of the collaboration with the Chinese pharmaceutical company HEC Pharm.
