Biogas company Biofrigas confirms small-scale production of liquid biogas (LBG) in commercial operation at a facility in Habo. The facility produces and delivers LBG adapted for the vehicle market. Commissioning shows that the technology works commercially and enables local production in segments that previously lacked profitability for liquefaction. At the same time, the market is shifting as electrification reduces demand for compressed biogas, while the need for LBG increases in transport that is difficult to electrify.- Sweden has long seen the potential in biogas, but production of liquid biogas has historically required large facilities and extensive investments. We now show that it is possible to produce vehicle-grade LBG locally, on a smaller scale and in commercial operation, says CEO Erik Fromell.Biofrigas intends to return with information regarding the continued optimization work in Habo, new projects and customer agreements during 2026.
