The biotech company Cyclezyme has made progress in its collaboration with Albany International regarding enzyme-based recycling of technical textiles based on polyester and polyamide. The company has successfully depolymerized selected material samples and carried out optimizations to improve degradation efficiency.Cyclezyme has also developed several nylon-degrading enzymes for the recycling of nylon and polyamide materials and is continuing to work on analytical methods to evaluate enzyme activity. The parties have now begun discussions on the next phase, focusing on scaling up and future industrial applications. No financial details are provided.
