Taurus Energy AB: Taurus Energy looks for opportunities in the Chinese market

Taurus Energy and the Swedish Trade Council are initiating a collaboration regarding the Chinese market. Hopes are high that China will be the next big ethanol market for Taurus' fermentation technology. Potential customers and partners will be identified and assessed, using the Swedish Trade Council's broad network of contacts.

"China has a great deal of interest in energy production in general, and ethanol in particular. The Swedish Trade Council is looking forward to helping Taurus explore the opportunities in the Chinese market", says Åsa Hansson, Manager of the Swedish Trade Council's office in Guangzhou (Canton), China. China is the third-largest market for ethanol production and consumption. Ethanol as a fuel is growing rapidly, and at present, production is handled by large state-owned companies in north-eastern, eastern and southern China. The primary crops used for this production are corn. Rising costs as well as environmental concerns mean that there will be a need for alternative solutions. "Our technology is particularly exciting, since it is based on the production of ethanol from agricultural and forestry waste, and offers huge environmental benefits", says Lars Welin, CEO of Taurus Energy AB. The project involving Taurus Energy and the Swedish Trade Council will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the Swedish Trade Council will identify potential customers and partners in China, using a number of channels, including the Swedish Trade Council's network, a number of different sources in China, contacts suggested by Taurus Energy, interviews and trade fairs. In the second phase, the Swedish Trade Council will organise meetings with the companies that have been identified, with joint visits by Taurus Energy and the Swedish Trade Council scheduled for November and December. The project is part of the "Business Opportunity" service offered by the Swedish Trade Council to small and medium-sized companies. The aim is to provide the company with an initial overview of the opportunities to do business in a selected foreign market. The service is co-financed by the Swedish state through the Swedish Trade Council, with the aim of increasing the presence of Swedish businesses abroad.
